CITROEN'S scrumptious DS3 had barely scorched the surface of the French autoroutes before mad fans called for an even quicker version.

The French car maker promptly responded and has just launched the DS3 Racing in Europe as a limited production model.

With power boosted from the 115kW offered in the Australian range-topping DS3 DSport to 152kW, the 0-100 km/h time drops to 6.5 seconds, yet despite the leap in performance, fuel consumption remains a very reasonable 6.4litres/100km on the combined test cycle.

But more than just drop a more powerful engine under the bonnet, engineers have enhanced all the relevant bits to produce a super-hottie that is still quite at home in the city.

The DS3 Racing is available in limited numbers and only in Europe, but Australian Citroen importer Ateco Automotive has made it clear it wants to bring the ultimate DS3 to Australia.
