SPORTS broadcaster and mental health advocate Glenn Mitchell visited York last Wednesday as part of Regional Men’s Health ‘look after your mates’ drive.
The commentator’s story of dealing with depression was described by participants as frank and helpful as he delved into his own personal battle with the mental illness.
Wheatbelt Regional Development Australia youth connections manager Denese Smythe said about 30 people attended the meeting.
They had gained the knowledge to help themselves, should the need arise, as well as learnt key strategies to help them talk effectively and develop realistic action plans to support people.
Regional Men’s Health also delivered a presentation and provided a booklet containing information and where to find help.
