IT’S jazzy, quirky and straight from the heart.
The song Thank You Friends, written by a breast cancer sufferer, has just been released to coincide with World Cancer Day.
Brisbane woman Dee Handyside wrote the song after surviving breast cancer.
It is a dedication and thank you to her family and friends who supported her through the difficult time.
But the song has a more significant link for Bassendean’s Helen Gladstones.
Also a breast cancer survivor, she featured in the song’s video clip.
“I was happy to help because I knew the song was about the importance of friends and family support to women going through the treatment,” she said.
“The filming took place in Brisbane so I wasn’t able to be there. But I sent a photo.
“So I make a brief appearance with my husband Patrick on the telly screen in the set for the film clip.”
Money raised from the February sales of the single Thank You Friends, which can be bought on itunes, goes to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
