JOONDALUP’S David Massingham said he never expected to take out the top prize when his daughter Shantelle convinced him to enter the Goodlife Health Club 12 Week Challenge.

“At the time I wasn’t very energetic and had put on quite a lot of weight,” he said.

“My daughter decided she would take part in the challenge and convinced me to join up with her – turns out it was the best thing I ever did and was made even better by being able to support each other along the way.”

Before the challenge, Mr Massingham said he was exercising once a fortnight but now he trains at the gym three or four times a week.

“I had my membership for quite some time, however I used to see going to the gym as a chore,” he said.

“After the first three weeks of the challenge, I began to realise the gym isn’t that bad and you can actually enjoy it.”

He went from 102kg to 94kg and lost 12.5cm.
