CANCER sufferers and survivors are invited to take part in a series of free yoga and exercise options.

New classes specifically designed for cancer patients, carers and family members are now available in Balga, Bassendean and Bayswater.

Forming part of the Cancer Council’s Life Now program, the workshops aim to improve the quality of life of people affected by the disease.

Participants can choose from a 12-week general fitness option or six weeks of yoga.

Bassendean yoga therapist Sally Riddell said the exercise gave people affected by cancer techniques to release pain in treatment.

“Yoga helps to strengthen them in both an emotional and physical way,” Ms Riddell said.

“By building mental fortitude, it can help to relieve pain.”

Yoga classes in Bassendean are now open for registrations.

Registrations for exercise classes in Balga and Bayswater open this week.
