THERE has been a fundamental change at Coonawarra’s most prominent winery.
After 55 glorious years of the Wynns cabernet sauvignon label, and for much of this period where it was one of the two “must have” cornerstones of an Australian red wine cellar, the wines have never been like this – and rarely, if ever, so good.
And never previously such marvellous drinking so young.
The style has changed – for the better.
Serious, soft, supple, fresh, lively and intriguing. Complex, long, wonderful mouthfeel and wonderful drinking right now. This will improve over 10 to 20 years. Fantastic? Yes, yes.
A great-value Coonawarra Cabernet (and a marvellous cabernet in its own right) from one of the great vintages down there.
Reviews on the Wynns Black Label Cabernet quality have jumped a level in recent years but the 2010 release is the best in a long time.
