FOR those not in the fashion loop, let me fill you in one of Mt Lawley’s hidden secrets.
Black Beret opened in August 2009 and is co-owned by Olivera and husband Paul Sumulikoski.
The decor for Black Beret was mainly sourced from local Mt Lawley businesses – mirrors, wallpaper and a chaise lounge.
Olivera loves the feel of minimalism, so the inclusion of white walls and floors and strong black wallpaper, drop ceiling and curtains were a foregone conclusion.
I chatted to Olivera her thoughts on retail, fashion and her tips for successful dressing.
“We positioned Black Beret in Mt Lawley as we felt it holds a fine example of retail development,” she said.
“Labels we stock include Dion Lee, Rachel Gilbert, Kate Sylvester, Nicola Finetti, Ellery, Karla Spetic and many more.
“I believe women should dress with comfort in mind. If you don’t feel comfortable in what you’re wearing, it’s hard to think of anything else.
“Being relaxed you feel confident. I also believe in investment purchases, like spending that bit extra on a well-tailored blazer, or a good fitting pant means comfort and style.”
She added that wardrobe musts include statement heels, a well-made tailored blazer, statement jewellery, a cocktail dress, and a classic shirt.
