A FASCINATION with skulls permeates Teagan Sewell’s edgy debut mixed-metal jewellery line.
Also featuring crosses and semi-precious crystals, her pieces are often bold and striking, ideal for adding a touch of grunge to a pretty ball gown or cocktail dress.
The 26-year-old Leederville woman presents Volume 1 of her Sewellery label at chic new retail space Hatch in Carillon City Arcade, Perth.
More than just a shop, showing the talents of predominantly WA emerging and established designers, the venue boasts events, fashion parades and exhibitions.
Teagan – who draws inspiration from the late British master of fashion Alexander McQueen – launched her career about a year ago after friends and industry heavyweights encouraged her to take a commercial route.
“All the pieces in my collection are items I originally made for myself to wear,” she said.
“They are made for everyday wear and they are interactive: you can often take off all the skulls on the bigger items and wear just the crosses and vice versa.
“You can also display the chains at different lengths and take the crystals off too.”
Teagan has already designed a Volume 2 assortment, again focusing on skulls.
Fellow designers at Hatch include Daniella Caputi, Bernice Sara, Ange Lang, Steph Audino and Alistair Yap.
