LOCATED in the Claremont Quarter, Storm in a Teacup is a new store that features an eclectic range of products, priding itself on its unique offerings.

Cottesloe resident Rosanne Dowland has been creating and buying for the local gift store Get for the last 15 years.

She came up with the concept for Storm in a Teacup after identifying the need for a store that catered for people with individualistic style.

“I am famous for always being able to deliver that gift that’s a bit different so I decided to create another treasure trove of gifts and fashion – in a contemporary, eclectic and original style,” Dowland said.

Some of the distinctive ranges featured in the store include Ellis and Dewey, Ermis World, Mesop, Jimmy Jean, Kookla and Metalicus, along with sterling silver jewellery from Azeta and vintage-inspired jewellery by American designer Jan Michaels.

The store has an extensive selection of beauty products from Mor, along with exquisite glassware from Fringe Studio.

Original one-off pieces and limited edition collections, such as a stunning selection of colourful prints from Papayart are also available.

Coinciding with the advent of hot weather, the store is about to launch Mirror Mirror, a beautiful range of silk chiffon in easy-wear styles, prints and colours.

“I believe silk chiffon is the perfect fabric for our long hot summers,” Dowland said.

“Silk chiffon has traditionally been utilised in evening wear only – and yet it suits our 40C summer days – it’s so light you don’t know you’re wearing it.”
