PRINCIPAL of Caporn Young Estate Agents in Claremont, Richard Young (pictured above) , is well on his way to raising $10,000 for the Starlight Foundation after completing the New York Marathon on November 6.
“The Starlight Foundation is a charity that does wonderful work for critically ill children by granting them a wish to lift their spirits and brighten their lives,” Mr Young said.
“I have my New York Marathon Personal Challenge webpage where people can make donations – I aim to raise $10,000 and so far I have received donations totalling more than $6210 at the webpage http://www. gofund raise.com.au/page/RFYoung.”
Mr Young said that another reason he chose the Starlight Foundation was that he identified with people who struggle with their health.
“A number of years ago blood tests showed I had dangerously high cholesterol levels,” he said.
“Running was an exercise that I enjoyed and through this combination of diet and running I cut my cholesterol by more than half.
“Running in the New York Marathon was a fantastic experience which I shared with nearly 50,000 other competitors from around the world – I also achieved my goal of running the marathon in under four hours by 21 minutes.”
