THE Toodyay Garden Club is planning a field trip to the Maze in Bullsbrook and tours of local gardens as part of their events calendar for the year.
President Sheena Hesse said members had begun planning the club’s monthly activities after its annual meeting last week.
“We try to keep things local and visit local gardens,” she said.
“We just go to see what everyone else is doing.
“I might be able to grow something at my place but people 5km away can’t because of the soil type.”
Mrs Hesse said the club often had guest speakers covering a variety of topics including frogs, insects, bulbs, fish and vegetables to keep all members interested.
Mrs Hesse said club numbers were down to between 30 and 35 and hoped more people would join this year, including men.
“People drop off and move out but on the whole we usually have around 50 members and average 35 to 40 each visit.”
The first event is a field trip on April 8 to the Maze in Bullsbrook, followed by tours of two local gardens in May.
The group meets on the first Thursday of every month. Call Sheena on 9574 5272.
