A BEAUTIFUL piece of furniture is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it can help transform a room.

Torrance + McKenna in Osborne Park specialise in timeless and contemporary handcrafted furniture made right here in WA.

Their extensive range can be viewed at their showroom or, if you’re after something personal, they will happily create a piece to suit your style, taste, comfort level and fabric requirements.

Owners Dina and Yogesh Shah told Residential, unlike most of their competitors where a large proportion of stock is imported, they manufactured everything in-house in their Osborne Park factory, and were one of the last remaining companies using both modern and traditional methods of upholstery and manufacturing.

“Our ability to customise extensively to suit the client’s needs gives us a point of difference,” Dina said.

“Most of our furniture is sprung based, offering superior comfort levels.

“The client can visit our manufacturing facility giving them insight into the quality of their product.”

Yogesh, who has a diploma in furniture design and technology from London College of Furniture, has more than 33 years’ experience in the furniture industry and said he gets his motivation from seeing clients’ satisfaction with their finished furniture.

Dina, on the other hand, has a diploma in interior design from the UK and has been a fabric buyer for 20 years, mainly selecting fabrics from the UK.

“Seeing a finished piece of furniture in different fabrics and how individual it turns out with the correct fabric choice keeps on inspiring us,’’ she said.

Utilising the very best of materials, from West Australian hardwood and spring bases to superior foam and webbing, Torrance + McKenna pride themselves on quality furniture.

When you like something, you should stick with it, and that is often how people feel about the furniture and sofas at Torrance + McKenna sofa.

They are made to give lasting comfort, so it is reassuring to know it can be reupholstered during a redecoration project, or simply to give it a new lease of life in the future.

Their extensive fabric and leather gallery features over 3000 quality fabrics and leathers sourced from the finest mills around the word for you to choose from.

“A well-designed piece of furniture can help transform a room,’’ Dina said.

“Form, proportion, styling, comfort, choice of fabric and colour are all considered together with the room layout and the client’s taste and lifestyle to achieve this.”
