Feature Property of the Week
Claremont stunner
FLAUNTING Parisian panache, radiating glamour and proving that romance is alive and well, this stunning Claremont residence captures the “joie de vivre.”
Set on an 873sq m block, it is the stylish pad of home makeover queen Sasha deBretton, who has been transforming the drab into the fab for 18 years
As CEO and head designer of Claremont business Million Dollar Makeovers, she oversees the renovation and interior design of 35 WA homes every year, with 500 tradies to call on to undertake work that ranges from $100,000 to more than $1 million.
Ms deBretton told Residential that the original Tudor-style house was lost in its datedness, dreariness and darkness, but its great potential and location enticed her to buy it as her family home.
“The original house had some lovely decorative ceilings, arches and internal french doors, so it had a great base plate that I could springboard off to create a beautiful, luxury residence with French glamour design,” she said.
“French provincial is a popular style and glamour is also very fashionable, so I've mixed both in my home to create something that's in vogue but doesn't look like anyone else's house, which is what Million Dollar Makeovers specialises in.”
Also renowned for completing quality renovations in record time, the company transformed the home in eight weeks, beginning with major structural work that aimed to make the floor plan bigger and more functional, as well as open and lighten the living spaces.
To this end, the front doors were repositioned to capture the natural light, white French oak floors introduced throughout the lower level, bedrooms enlarged, and 8m bi-folds installed in the open-plan kitchen and dining area that provide access to the redesigned back garden with 70sq m covered entertaining deck, spa and pool area.
Other new outdoor zones were also established, including a side lawn for kids to
play on and a cottage-style front garden that features a gazebo and fountain to
make for a grand entrance to the property.
Inside, chandeliers, gilded mirrors, decorative cornices, striking Spanish wallpapers, Italian tiles, luxurious Austrian velvet drapes and marble fireplace surrounds are among the high-fashion touches and exquisite finishes that create elegant, indulgent Parisian style.
Custom-designed furniture from the Sasha deBretton Collection features throughout the accommodation, with the lower level incorporating a living room, one of three opulent bathrooms, and a kitchen with rare marble benchtops, porcelain splashbacks, crystal handles, Miele appliances and integrated laundry.
Also downstairs is a guest bedroom/home office, while the upper level houses four bedrooms including a Paris boutique hotel-style master bedroom that features a round bed, walk-in robe, and lavish open ensuite with a claw-foot bath, furniture converted into stone-topped vanities, and concealed toilet and shower.
There is also a huge sunken multi-purpose room with kitchenette and built-in desks that could function as a home theatre room, home office, rumpus room or parents' wing.
In walking distance to St Thomas Primary School, transport , Claremont Quarter and with furniture that can be negotiated as part of the sale, this home is one in a million.
