JAKE Anderson might just be the next Greg Norman.

The 10 year-old Spearwood lad, who attends St Jerome’s Primary School, plays a competitive 18-hole golf game at Kwinana Golf Club every Saturday, rain or shine and has a tidy handicap of 35.

Grandmother Helen Foster said Jake often had to play with senior groups of golfers when competitors his age were not available.

“He has developed extremely good skills and knowledge of the game at such a young age,” she said.

Introduced to the sport by father Glenn, Jake said he might be able to give his dad a run for his money “in a couple of years.”

Jake has been nominated for a boys’ achievement award in the Community Newspaper Group’s HBF Junior Sporting Heroes 2012 program.

The awards aim recognise and reward young people who inspire others through their achievement or participation in their chosen sport or field.
