LOCKRIDGE soccer player Saul Healy is at this moment taking on the best in the world as part of Football West’s National Training Centre squad.

Football West have sent a NTC squad to the annual Korea U-15 Football League Tournament which started on Monday in Gangjin-gun, South Korea.

The Korean Football Association organises this tournament as the final part of the selection process for their U-15 national side in which the best 32 under-15 players make their final attempt to secure a spot for the U-15 Asian Football Confederations qualifications.

Healy is just one local resident invited to take part, along with Wembley Downs’ David Roy and Dianella’s Richard Giorgi.

This year Football West will take on world football giants FC Barcelona, both Korean national squads and Wynra from New Zealand in Group A.

Football West technical director Cris Ola is looking forward to the challenge after being involved as head coach in 2010.

“It is a massive test for our young players before the NTC Challenge later this year,” said Ola.
