I THOUGHT we were fantastic against Wellington Phoenix yesterday, especially up front where Robbie Fowler and Mile Sterjovski caused a lot of havoc.
Both star strikers got goals and Robbie has now netted two in his last two games while Mile is on three, which makes him the leading goal scorer in the competition.
For me, Sterjovski has been one of our best players this season.
He’s very relaxed and playing such positive football, the result of a huge pre-season.
It also takes a season to adapt to a new club and environment and after 10 years in Europe at the elite level we are now seeing the best of Sterjovski.
I think his combination with Fowler is exciting all Perth Glory fans.
We knew we had to get a result on the weekend because Adelaide beat Sydney FC so the boys were determined to keep our position at the top of the Hyundai A-League table and we’ve done that.
Wellington is a good side.
They threw everything at us but I think on another day we could have had three or four because their goalkeeper Mark Paston had a great game, showing why he was at the World Cup with New Zealand.
It’s now very important to look to the next game this Sunday against Gold Coast and get another three points.
Gold Coast is another classy team with Socceroos Jason Culina and Bruce Djite but with another big home crowd, the boys are confident we can continue our unbeaten run this season.
