AT 16, Davis Blackwell is already an accomplished bodyboarder and has been a member of the Mandurah Bodyboarding Club since he was eight.

He made his debut at the age of 11 at the National Australasian Bodyboarding titles and took out the Grommets division Australasian title in 2009.

Blackwell said he would like to become a professional bodyboarder and recommended the sport to other young people as it was “great fun.”

“If anybody is thinking about competing, I would recommend joining the local club,” he said.

“Mandurah Body Boarding club has a range of skill level divisions and it is always a good day.”

His achievements mean he has attracted sponsorship from some major bodyboarding brands.

He also maintains a blog page and mentors other members.
