BMX racing has played such a large part in Kyle Green’s life that the young State champion can pinpoint, to the day, the first time he tried his hand at the sport.

“It was July 16, eight years ago,” the 1`1-year-old Wanneroo resident said.

“It is exactly a month before my sister’s birthday, which makes it easy to remember as well.”

A rider for Westside BMX in Balcatta, Kyle has amassed an impressive list of achievements.

He won his first State championship at just nine and has now won three State titles in a row.

His real aim is one that every sportsman dreams of – to represent his country at the Olympic Games.

“I do one gym training session a week and I’m out at the track twice a week – it’s a world-class track and that’s really helped me.

“My first stop is the Youth Olympics and if I can make the youth team then I think I’m in with a real chance of eventually making it to the Olympics, he said.”

Kyle said he hoped the Monster BMX Open Day at Westside BMX on October 16 would help more kids get into the sport.

“Westside is a great club and it’s a great place to learn the sport, even if you just want to have a go.”
