THE City of Swan seized two dogs from a rural property last Friday because their owner failed to install fencing to keep the animals confined.
City chief executive Mike Foley said the action taken by the City could be considered extreme because the dogs had not inflicted any life-threatening injuries.
However, he said, the continued nuisance caused to the community by the dogs wandering could not be resolved without cooperation from the owner.
“Following numerous reports of the dogs wandering, the City has been left with no other option than to refuse to renew the dogs' registrations and now seize and detain the dogs from the property,'' Mr Foley said.
“This incident serves as a timely reminder that dog owners are responsible for ensuring their pets are adequately confined to their property at all times.”
