KIARA police have charged two people for allegedly pawning stolen goods.

Acting Sergeant Steve Guerrini  said an inquiry team was investigating an minor stealing offence in Ballajura  when they carried out a background check on the owner of a vehicle alleged to have been involved.

He said that the check showed the 29-year-old woman had completed a high number of second-hand dealer transactions at pawnbrokers in Malaga, Joondalup, Midland and Maddington.

Sgt Guerrini said the pawned items included portable generators, boxed electrical items and musical instruments which were reported stolen over a six-week period from retail outlets in the metropolitan area.

The items were valued at more than $30,000, he said.

Police have seized the property pending the outcome of the court cases.

The Ellenbrook woman was charged with 34 offences, including five counts of stealing, 15 counts of fraud and 14 counts of possessing stolen property.

A 29-year-old man, also of Ellenbrook, was charged in connection to the incident with four counts of fraud and four counts of possessing stolen property.

Both were remanded on bail to appear in Midland Magistrates Court later this month.
