A RAPIDLY expanding group of tall men and women across the country who have their height as a common factor, and want to celebrate it, are forming clubs.

One member from the Rockingham district is Alex Sallur who lives in Parmelia and teaches at a primary school in Port Kennedy.

Alex is 185cm – or 6ft 2in – and says the trend for height stems from her father who was 188cm – 6ft 3in. Her partner is also 185cm.

While you have to be taller than 5ft 8in to join the Tall Women’s Club, no matter what height you are everyone is welcome to come to a cocktail party on July 11 at 43 Below in Barrack Street, Perth, to raise funds for the Cancer Council of WA.

Fashion label XtraLength founder Sue Robertson, the force behind the Tall Women’s Club, and has inspired the formation of a Tall Men’s Club.

“We all swap tips, like where to find fashionable shoes beyond a size 10, shirts and tops which actually reach the wrist and jeans which don’t end above the ankles,” Sue said.

Joanne Burgess will compere the cocktail party and the $25 tickets include finger food.
