ALBANY Highway could become a more pedestrian friendly area with a plan to reduce the speed limit between Welshpool Road in St James and Armagh Street in Victoria Park.

According to the Main Roads proposal, Albany Highway as a street where the level of pedestrian and outdoor activities was particularly high would benefit from a 40km/h speed limit rather than 50km/h.

Mayor Trevor Vaughan said the Town believed it would be a good idea.

“However, it is really important to Council that we get an idea of where the residents, ratepayers and businesses are positioned on the issue before there is any firm decision made,” he said.

Community input forms are available at www.vicpark.wa.gov.|au, by calling 9311 8115, at the Town’s administration centre or by emailing csotech@|vicpark.wa.gov.au.

Submissions on the proposed Albany Highway speed zone change must be received by 4pm, Tuesday, February 16.

The only trouble with slow driving and a busy road is ....... you dont get a chance to cross the road between cars as they are too close.
