SONGSTERS from Wesley and Penrhos Colleges have combined their musical talents for a special performance with one of Australia’s leading a cappella groups, The Idea of North.
The Idea of North is a talented quartet comprising Andrew Piper, Nick Begbie, Naomi Crellin and Sally Cameron.
The group crosses many musical genres, including jazz, folk, gospel, pop, classical and comedy.
The idea for the concert came from a desire to combine the Wesley and Penrhos choirs to form a ‘super-choir’ of over 100 young voices.
Wesley College’s head of arts Kieran Hurley said students from both choirs would benefit.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to work with professional musicians,” Mr Hurley said.
“These kinds of experiences are invaluable and lead to strong friendships and wonderful memories.”
The Idea of North and the Penrhos and Wesley College choirs will perform together on September 11 at the Rixon Theatre, Penrhos College, at 7pm.
Tickets are available from BOCS on 9484 1133 or www.bocsticketing.com.au.
