UPGRADES to the Nicholson, Bannister and Wilfred roads intersection are a step closer after City of Canning councillors agreed to call tenders for its construction.

At a March 13 meeting, councillors agreed to enter into an agreement with the City of Gosnells and Main Roads WA, outlining the obligations and responsibilities to carry out the proposed works at the intersection.

Councillors also authorised the call for tenders for the intersection upgrades.

The item was discussed in confidence and a further report will be presented to council, detailing the legal agreement and tender results.

Southern River MLA Peter Abetz said the decision was good progress to improve important roads in Canning Vale.

“The population has grown enormously in Canning Vale in the past five years and this intersection desperately needed attention for these residents,” he said.

Mr Abetz said the decision followed his campaign to speed up the development.

“This is a win for common sense, and a win for people power,” he said.
