PENRHOS College Year 11 and 12 students enhanced their knowledge of Chinese history, politics and culture during their inaugural China study tour .
Eighteen students, accompanied by two teachers, travelled to Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai and Zhouzhang, visiting popular sites including the Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven.
Head of society and environment, Joska Reichelt, said the tour was designed to enhance the students’ cross-cultural perspective and complement the school’s academic program.
She said the students returned to school equipped with new-found knowledge that benefited their learning in society and environment classes.
Year 12 student Alix Bray said the highlights of the tour included bartering in markets, sampling traditional Chinese food, and visiting iconic landmarks Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China.
