TWO parades supposed to take place this weekend in Perth’s city streets are under threat because WA Police say it is no longer their responsibility to provide police officers to conduct points duty or traffic control for such parades.
The Valentine’s Day Gay and Lesbian Equality Support Day set to be held this Sunday and an Aboriginal Rights Rally to be held on Saturday are now in doubt.
The City of Perth is opposing the move, saying such a decision would affect city vitality and impinge on people’s rights to hold a march in city streets.
