WORK has started on an upgrade to Gnangara Road, from Drumpellier Drive to Pinaster Parade, near Ellenbrook.
The upgrade includes installing traffic signals at the intersection of Gnangara Road and Drumpellier Drive, as well as widening the existing roads on the northern side and providing a fully kerbed and drained four-lane dual carriageway.
City of Swan Mayor Charlie Zannino said it was the first of three road projects in the area. It started on May 21.
“The City is also planning for the roundabout at the intersection of Gnangara Road and West Swan Road. Works are expected to start on the roundabout in October,” he said.
“Ellenbrook developers LWP will be undertaking road works at the intersection of Arbor Drive and The Broadway to construct a new roundabout. Works are expected to commence in June.”
Ellenbrook ward councillor Natasha Cheung said the upgrade to Gnangara Road was scheduled to be completed by December.
“This is a $4 million project which will improve traffic flow and road safety along this stretch of road.
“There will be some impact on travel times during the work and we are asking the community to abide by the signage and instructions on site.
“Lane closures and restricted access, both in and out of Drumpellier Drive, may occur during some stage of the works and right-hand turns from Drumpellier to Gnangara will be restricted for the duration of the works.”
