HELEN Moore’s indefatigable efforts to contribute to the community has earned special praise.
Mrs Moore (76) scooped the City of South Perth’s major prize during its recent volunteer awards for her long-standing service at Manning-based not-for-profit organisation Southcare.
For the past 29 years, she has served as company secretary and helped shaped the growth of Southcare.
“I enjoy what I do and I have always been happy to help out,” Mrs Moore said.
“Volunteering is a rewarding experience.
“The award is also an acknowledgment of Southcare, and the great work done by everyone in the organisation.”
Other winners included young volunteer award recipients Sarah Boylen and Jared Bond for their contribution to the Salter Point Sea Scouts, while junior award winner was Jake Lockyer for his work at the Manning Rippers Football Club.
South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said volunteers played a vital role in the community.
“The commitment of individuals and community groups make this City a great place to live,” Ms Doherty said.
“Without volunteers, many local clubs and groups could simply not survive.”
