PARKERVILLE’S Malmalling Vineyard and Hainault Vineyard of Bickley Valley have come out on top in judging for this year’s Perth Hills Wine Show.

Malmalling took home the Chairman’s Trophy for its 2009 shiraz – the same wine that won the inaugural John Walsh Memorial Trophy, as well as Wine of the Show.

Hainault won the titles of Best Red Varietal and Best Value Wine of Show for its cabernet sauvignon, resulting in the winery picking up Most Successful Exhibitor at Show.

John Walsh’s widow Rosemary presented the award bearing her husband’s name that was created to recognise the best regional shiraz.

Mr Walsh was the first president of the Perth Hills Vignerons Association and his wife spoke of his love for shiraz and the gratification of him being remembered through the trophy.

Award-winning wines will be on offer to the public when the Perth Hills Wine Show runs in conjunction with the Mundaring Truffle Festival in Mundaring next weekend.
