SINCE opening their doors in West Perth nearly a year ago, the team at Performance Pilates and Physiotherapy has worked with notable sportspeople.
Director and studio owner Audrey Ng has been involved in physiotherapy and Pilates for over 20 years.
Now an international presenter, Ms Ng educates people about posture, core stability, movement re-training through neuromuscular re-education and specialises in movement analysis with a holistic approach.
Her clientele includes Perth Glory players, hockey and gymnastics Olympians, WA Football League players, state and county cricketers, ironman triathletes, state swimmers, junior and professional football and soccer clubs, cyclists, runners, office workers and Pilates enthusiasts.
“A lot of the Pilates we do teaches people more-efficient movement patterns and more specifically, we’ve been looking at pelvic stability and muscle activation to prevent hamstring type injuries or overload of the knee,” Ms Ng said.
“You can’t go out and suddenly start running without decent preparation; you also need to train for events like City to Surf.
“Recovery is also very important; you need to make sure you have a good training program where you’re giving your body enough time to rest and recover afterwards.”
Ms Ng has helped Perth Glory player Evan Berger in his rehabilitation from hamstring surgery.
“Last season I had a lot of issues before surgery and she was able to get me back on the path and playing career-best form,” Berger said.
“I think she could work wonders for anyone.”
