THE depth of barista training at Rockingham’s Gloria Jean’s Coffee House was on show at this year’s Australasia Specialty Coffee Association championships.

Two graduates from the Rockingham coffee house left their mark on this year’s events, with Elisha Mauger crowned the Australian Cupping Champion and Rie Moustakas placed second in her Latte Art qualifying heat, which unfortunately was not enough to get her through to this year’s final.

Elisha, who recently moved to Sydney to work as the operations trainer at Gloria Jean’s Coffees Support Office, beat eight top baristas in her final and will represent Australia at the 2013 World Cup Tasters Championship in Nice, France, this June.

The competitions were held at the Royal Melbourne Showground, with the Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show, last weekend.
