DALKEITH mother-of-two Nicole Cassey’s personal experiences with Princess Margaret Hospital inspired her to establish her own line of baby clothing and now she wants to give something back.
Mrs Cassey established the Bubbaroo line of clothing for babies five years ago and from December 1 part proceeds from the sale of all products help to raise funds for five leading children’s hospitals in Australia, including PMH.
Mrs Cassey has personal experiences with children’s hospitals, with her own children Jacob and Emily admitted to PMH on several occasions.
“My first experience at PMH was with Jacob when he had a bilateral inguinal hernia operation at just four weeks of age,” Mrs Cassey said.
“Jacob was diagnosed with gastro oesophageal reflux disease and was failing to thrive. At seven weeks old, we took him back to PMH where we were admitted for seven days.
“Jacob was closely monitored and a strict feeding regime was implemented until he began slowly gaining weight.”
The family’s second experience was with daughter Emily.
Emily was admitted to PMH at four weeks with suspected meningitis but was later diagnosed with the entro virus.
“The doctors and nurses at PMH were fantastic. I knew my children were in very safe hands, the work they do is truly amazing,” Mrs Cassey said.
“I think you would be hard pressed to find an Australian family who hasn’t been touched by a children’s hospital.”
