ALCOA has pledged to continue to support Mandurah Wildlife Rescue in buying a number of very important hospital boxes.
The company has called on the rescue group’s expertise and help on many occasions over the years, with animals around the Pinjarra and Wagerup refineries and Huntly and Willowdale mines, and the subsequent re-introduction of the animals to their natural habitat once treatment was successful.
Mandurah Wildlife Rescue recently relocated to new premises, securing a long-term lease with the property owner, and is now set on a 5ha block with a combination of buildings and sheds undergoing major improvements.
A local builder is donating time and some materials to carry out the works, including an operating theatre, bird surgery, quarantine area, office and meeting area, as well as a small unit for carers when 24-hour care is required.
Future plans for Mandurah Wildlife Rescue include further basic accommodation for visiting students, and outside pens and enclosures for the animals’ continued recuperation.
