IN reply to Keith Jenner’s response (Seawater makes sense, Coastal Times, February 1) regarding my view to use run-off stormwater it was my belief the oceans are no longer used as a dumping ground for refuse from any shipping.
It was my belief the oceans are no longer used as a dumping ground for refuse from any shipping, which should also apply to the run-off stormwater containing all the toxics as described in Mr Jenner's letter.
After a heavy downpour a one kilometre-wide discolouring of water along the coastline is visible from the air.
My suggestion is to fix our water problem once and for all by engaging civil engineers from The Netherlands who are only too happy to help out.
The Dutch have been controlling water for ages and we can then stop “Band-Aiding” the continuing situation by building another desalination plant as the population increases.
After the Dutch have completed the job we can then use the desal plants as a tourist attraction to show how we once created drinking water.
