Sense blown out with the candle

JUST where is political correctness heading? Under new National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines, children could be banned from blowing out the candles on their birthday cakes in the classroom.

It’s one of the big birthday thrills, carting a cake to school to share with mates and blowing out the candles. Now, youngsters will have to take their own cupcake with a candle or cupcakes for the class.

Obviously children can spread germs by blowing out candles but far less so, you’d think, than coughing and sneezing all over their mates, using public drinking fountains or sharing a glass or bottle.

It’s not just a silly move but one more nail in the coffin of freedom that we have allowed to occur gradually without question for far too long.

It’s all so trivial.

A young mother was fined $250 for simply shifting an uncomfortable mobile phone from her back jeans pocket while stopped at traffic lights.

Where will it all end?

From the point of view of the Bible, God's word to us, should we even celebrate birthdays? Jesus never mentioned his and never mentioned for anyone else to celebrate theirs...also the two examples of birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible BOTH ended badly...
(Genesis 40:20) Now on the third day it turned out to be Phar′aoh’s birthday, and he proceeded to make a feast for all his servants and to lift up the head of the chief of the cupbearers and the head of the chief of the bakers in the midst of his servants.
DECAPITATION for the two servants.. NOT a happy occasion?
(Matthew 14:6) But when Herod’s birthday was being celebrated the daughter of He·ro′di·as danced at it and pleased Herod so much
And not much fun for John the Baptist...who also lost his head.
WHY two bad examples and NO good ones...
There has to be a lesson here for us...
How does God view birthdays???

Could not agree more. They may as well ban buses, planes, even air conditioned school classes can spread germs.
Not only is our freedom being eroded, but the government and social engineers seem determined to dumb down the masses by making us less responsible for our own actions.
It won't end, unless we go the full circle and realise how foolish we've been.
