Perth is feeling growing pains

Comments:

PERTH residents have long spoken proudly of the city’s virtues. A band even wrote a song about its icons and character. (Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town - The Panics).

A list of Perth’s benefits quickly highlights among other things the beautiful and predictable weather (admittedly, last week was a bit of an exception) and the relatively slow-paced way of life.

But with a rapidly growing population our once sleepy little town is becoming more like a big, vibrant city.

While most are glad to see the city grow, the recognised problems associated with being a big city are being highlighted.

Leach Highway congestion, caused by an increasing number of vehicles, is just one problem facing Canning residents.

Concerns surrounding public transport, crime and health are also issues the State Government needs to address, and quickly, so that Perth can support its population growth now and into the future.
