A couple of days ago, I met a friend of one
of my friends who had just gotten back from Perth, WA.
This was a great
opportunity for me to get even closer to the Perth lifestyle. Though this
opportunity turned out to be not very comforting to what I had
imagined.
The friend said many great things about the beach and lovely
restaurants in Perth. But what she was not very happy about
was how people interact with each other.
She implied that people do not
get involved in many community activities and the interactions are not as
much as you would expect in such a lovely place.
I thought for a day or
two and tried to figure out why this might happen there. Or why this
friend has felt that way. I think the answer may be a lack of community
centres and social activities.
I really have no idea how many of them
are around in Perth and how active they are in running social
movements. But I really think they are necessary to make people feel
closer to each other and create an atmosphere of cooperation within the
community.
Often classes are designed for different tastes in the
community and community centres address a variety of needs among
people. Art galleries and local festivals are also exciting events.
My friend told me a lot about the city of Perth. This made me even more excited to see Perth for myself. I hope this happens in the not too distant future.
