SPINNAKERS’ stunning seaside views are the ideal accompaniment for its fresh and contemporary outlook on Australian cuisine.

Situated on the popular Hillarys marina, near the lighthouse, the restaurant has come a long way since its days as a bait kiosk.

With an ever-growing customer base for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant has developed into a fine dining establishment.

One of the most popular dishes on Spinnakers menu is its signature salt and pepper calamari.

Served as either an entrée or a main, the calamari is dusted with lemon pepper, fried and placed on a bed of baby spinach, tomato and basil, and drizzled with a lemon aioli and sweet chilli soy dressing.

The fish of the day is also a feature of the menu.

But if seafood is not for you, there is a range of other selections with the restaurant catering for both meat lovers and vegetarians alike.

The grilled pork cutlet with caramelised apple, red onion and sweet Muscat jus served on a parmesan and garlic mash is sure to be a favourite with those looking for something heavier.

Or why not try the pan-fried chicken breast with garlic scallops, prawns and roast capsicum served in a champagne and tomato cream sauce with dauphinoise potato?

Lighter lunch options include the warm Moroccan chicken salad with tenderloins marinated in spices, grilled and served on a mixed green salad with cottage cheese, roasted pistachio nuts, mango slices and topped with mango mayonnaise.

Those looking for a jump start to their day can revel in their large, hearty breakfast choices.

Available from 8-11.15am every day, diners can try the big breakfast with two eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, hash brown and toast or opt for something sweeter like the apricot pancakes.

Diners can also enjoy a relaxing wine from the fully licensed restaurant’s extensive liquor range.

The dinner menu is served on Friday and Saturday nights only with the venue available for functions throughout the year.

I recently had lunch at Spinnakers Cafe , with two friends and an Irish visitor. Our table looked out on the Indian Ocean, glittering like diamonds just for us. The food was divine, two of us had the mouth-watering Mororoccan chicken salad, one the calamari which was tender and cooked to perfection, the other had soup of the day. Great lunch - great venue. We'll be back!
